Ballymena Murder Bid Suspects Remanded
Four people have been remanded in custody on charges linked with the attempted murder of a man in Co Antrim at the weekend.
Three brothers aged between 19 and 21 and a juvenile were in court today facing the charges of attempted murder in Ballymena.
Aaron and Gareth Balmer, from Orkney Drive in the town, and Colin Balmer, who lives at Princes Street, appeared before Antrim Magistrates Court.
Gareth Balmer was also accused of disorderly behaviour, obstructing the police and possession of drugs.
They are to appear in court again next month.
Tuesday's appearance follows an attack on the 30-year-old victim close to Ballymena's town hall around 1am on Sunday.
The victim of the assault suffered serious head wounds and remains in hospital, where his condition is described as critical.
North Antrim SDLP MLA Declan O'Loan condemned the incident.
Speaking to the local paper, the Ballymena Times he said "Once again a man lies seriously injured in hospital after a assault late at night.
"This culture of violence which is so common nowadays must be condemned.
"The matter is being investigated by the police and anyone who knows anything about the assault is under a duty to report it to them," he said.
Anyone who witnessed the assault is asked to contact CID at Ballymena on 0845 600 8000, or information can be passed anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
