NI company launch new textile technology
A breakthrough in textile technology which adds comfort, care and wear qualities to cotton, linen and other fibres, has been launched in London by Lintrend of Northern Ireland.
The company's Coolfix treatment gives fabrics a number of attractive features including the thermostatic effect of regulating body heat to feel cooler in warm climatic conditions.
Coolfix was developed through several years of research and development by Lintrend, an associate company of Trend Technology of Larne. A patented process, Coolfix treated-fabrics range from light blouse weight materials to jacket and trouser weights.
Speaking at the launch of Coolfix, Dr Fred Sloan, textile technologist and chief executive of Lintrend said: "The launch of Coolfix is the culmination of eight years of work which started by addressing the problems related to linen and extended to many other fibres, thus opening doors to innumerable applications which should appeal to design and marketing people worldwide."
The wide ranging potential applications of Coolfix treated products include bed linen, sports and leisure wear and lingerie. (MB)

Empey welcomes the launch of 'Irish Linen plus Lycra'
The Enterprise, Trade and Investment Minister, Sir Reg Empey has welcomed the launch of a new Northern Ireland made product which combine the traditional linen with the flexibility of lycra at the world’s biggest exhibition for weavers of apparel and furnishing fabrics. The fabric was launched at the recent Premiere Vision weaving show in Paris.
