Wind Energy To Create 10,500 Jobs
Over 10,500 jobs could be created in the wind energy sector by 2020, according to a study by the consultancy firm Deloitte.
The study says up to €15bn could be invested in the construction and development of wind-energy projects.
It says more than €5bn of this could be retained in the Irish economy.

Offshore Company Axes Jobs
Around 150 jobs in Aberdeen and Dundee have been axed after an offshore services company ceased trading. Oceanteam Power and Umbilical has been forced to close when the firm's holding company withdrew its financial support. Staff are based in Aberdeen, at workshops in Dundee and offshore.

Over 1,300 Jobs Announced In Ireland Last Week
Fine Gael Dublin South Central Deputy, Catherine Byrne, has said the fact that more than 1,300 jobs were announced in the last week is a strong signal that confidence in the Irish economy is growing and that the policies being adopted by Government are the right ones.

Proposed Derry Windfarm To Create 30 Building Jobs
Renewables and energy storage firm Gaelectric has submitted a planning application for a wind farm at Smulgedon, Londonderry, which has the potential to create 30 construction jobs. The site, located north-east of Dungiven, will consist of seven wind turbines with a maximum blade tip height of 121.2m.

Pharma Jobs Boost For Carlow
Around 60 new jobs are to be created in Carlow by the pharmaceutical facility, Merck Sharp & Dohme. The recession-beating jobs are the result of the construction of a new €20m vaccines and biologics facility in the town this year. The firm says 170 people will be employed when the facility opens in 2011.
