Further Road Tragedies Blight Ireland
The PSNI have appealed for information after a man - named on Wednesday afternoon as 18-year-old Kevin O'Toole - died in a two-car collision in Londonderry.
A black Skoda Octavia and black Ford Puma were involved in the incident, which was reported to police around 6.45pm on Tuesday.
The collision happened on the Culmore road at the junction with the Springfield road near Derry.
Another male was taken to hospital, but police said his injuries were not life threatening.
Meanwhile, there's similar bad news in the Irish Republic too where a man and a woman have been killed in separate road accidents in counties Cavan and Roscommon.
The woman in her 60s died after two cars collided on the M3 south of Cavan town at around 5.30pm on Tuesday evening.
She was taken to Cavan General Hospital, where she died a short time later.
The driver of the second vehicle was also hospitalised but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
In Roscommon, a 45-year-old pedestrian was also killed after being struck by a car near Ballyleague at around 2.30am yesterday.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, which has been examined. The road has been reopened.
