Victims of Tullaghmurray Lass to be buried
Three generations of a County Down family killed at sea will be buried on Wednesday April 17.
Fifty-four-year old Michael Greene, his 33-year-old son and eight-year-old grandson, also called Michael Greene, will be buried following Requiem Mass in St Colman’s Church in Kilkeel on Wednesday.
The three died at sea after their boat left Kilkeel harbour on February 14.
An intensive eight-week search and rescue operation concluded successfully over the weekend when the bodies of the three were brought ashore.
The body of Michael Greene Jnr, 32, was taken off the wreck of the Tullaghmurray Lass on Saturday afternoon.
His eight-year-old son's remains were recovered a short time earlier while the body of his father, Michael Green Snr, was taken ashore on Friday night.
On Sunday, prayers were said for the Greene family in churches in the vicinity of Kilkeel.
It has emerged that a memorial is to be built in Kilkeel harbour this summer to commemorate local seafarers who have lost their lives. (AMcE)
