Hurt Kenyan Aid Worker's Family Robbed

The children of a Co Down charity worker badly hurt in a road accident in Kenya have been robbed.

The close family members were donating blood for Mary Morgan, from Rostrevor, who was hurt as she made her way to a mercy mission along with 13 others when their bus overturned.

Yesterday, her son and two daughters had cash, passports, mobile phones and credit cards stolen while they gave vital blood for for their mother's treatment in a Nairobi hospital.

The Kenyan police (pictured) have started a criminal investigation.

The three family members had flown to Kenya after Mrs Morgan, 61, underwent emergency surgery on Tuesday night.

Today, she remains in serious but stable condition.

Niamh, Ronan, and Aislinn, all in their late 20s and early 30s, were left with little more than what they were wearing after the thieves entered Nairobi Hospital and stole their money, credit cards, and mobile phones.

A spokeswoman from Mrs Morgan, Habitat for Humanity, said the organisation is giving the family as much practical support as possible, providing mobile phones and emergency cash, and coordinating with Kenyan authorities.

Mrs Morgan's sister told the BBC today the latest news was "unbearable" for the family.

Habitat for Humanity's NI team were on route to a site in Kathiani where the charity was planning to build houses for people in need.
