BT openworld reveal new broadband initiatives
BTopenworld has launched a new package to help SMEs make the most of the Internet as a business medium.
Each "Internet Business Pack" from the company includes a variety of tools to enable businesses to capitalise on their Broadband connection and establish a professional online presence.
Along with high-speed, always-on Internet access, customers will receive the services necessary to take their business online successfully, including Web space, email accounts and a domain name, plus tools to help market their business more widely using the Internet.
Subscribers will also benefit from two exclusive services. Customers will be given free membership of an extensive online community, through inclusion in Btopenworld's online Web directory. They will also receive a free "Web Card" - a pre-designed Web page complete with company details – to ensure their Web strategy is up and running as soon as they are connected.
Tony Harris, president, business internet services, BTopenworld said: "The first step a business takes when getting online is to get access to the Internet and set up its first email account. As it begins to work online more and more, it inevitably starts to see the value of setting up a company Web site. For a small business without an IT manager, however, this can be a daunting prospect.
He continued: "By expanding our Broadband business offerings, we're enabling smaller companies to enhance their online business proposition easily and at a low cost. According to Fletcher Advisory research, 1.4 million businesses will be connected to Broadband by 2005 and our aim is to guide them in using the Internet as an effective business channel."
The Internet Business Pack follows the recently launched Plug & Go Business 500 product, the launch of a Broadband Satellite service, as well as a raft of Broadband price cuts. With these new Broadband initiatives, BTopenworld is targeting the 38 per cent of the UK's 3.7 million SMEs which currently don't have an online presence.
