Certification scheme for project managers launched
The Institute of Project Management of Ireland (IPMI) has launched a new international certification programme for project managers in Ireland.
The launched of the new Project Management National Competence Baseline for Ireland (NCBI) and its associated qualification and certification programme will tests the knowledge, experience and personal qualities required by a professional project manager.
The NCBI is the definitive body of project management knowledge and experience for Ireland. It outlines the standards that are the essentials of best practice in the profession. It will be the authoritative point of reference for project managers in Ireland.
The NCBI Certification is also an international qualification recognised by the International Project Management Association (IPMA), which is based in Switzerland and represented in some 30 countries.
Ed Naughton, Director of the Institute of Project Management of Ireland, commented: “The principal objective is to provide a solid foundation for the advancement of project management in Ireland and a benchmark for standards. The demand for an internationally recognised qualification is growing as business becomes more global”.
He added: “250 candidates will have been certified in Ireland through this programme by June 2002”.
