Redundant Staff Get Jobs
The majority of staff paid off last week at an east Belfast engineering firm are to be re-employed.
Around 35 of the 50 workers made redundant when the Central Group Services business went bust have won new jobs.
Contract Services NI which carries out electrical, mechanical and maintenance work from its base in Dundonald outside east Belfast has taken on the workers and is hopeful of taking on the rest soon.

Visteon Protest Continues
As recession-hit workers in west Belfast continue their protest sit-in for its seventh day, it has emerged that talks in New York this week could decide their fate. The workers are occupying car plants in demand for improved redundancy payments and even held a family fun day on Sunday with speakers supporting their demands for better pay-offs.

TUC Calls For Co-ordination To Prevent Migrant Worker Exploitation
A national strategy for dealing with migrant workers would lead to a greater degree of co-ordination between regional employment, health, education and housing services and would make it more difficult for rogue employers to exploit vulnerable workers, the TUC and the East of England Development Agency (EEDA) have said.

Cautious Welcome For Agency Workers' Bill
Speaking in the Dáil on the Protection of Employees (Agency Workers) Bill, Sinn Féin’s spokesperson on jobs and enterprise, said that it was "a step in the right direction in safeguarding the rights of workers", but warned against targeting low-paid workers in an attempt to maintain competitiveness.
