Magillian Prison Designers Selected
Designers have been appointed for a new 800-bed facility at Magilligan Prison.
Consultancies Arup and EC Harris will also administer the construction contract for the scheme, which will be built on the existing prison site.
The firms were selected by the Northern Ireland Prison Service along with partner, architect HLM.
Over the next 30 months both firms will provide pre-construction design services, and later takeover the reigns of technical design advisor.
The firms will also oversee the eventual contractor complete the works on a phased basis.
Prison service director Robin Masefield said: "Their concept designs, already submitted as part of their tender bid, will now be developed, refined and tested against our requirements and I and the staff at Magilligan prison look forward to working closely with them in progressing this exciting project."
