Comedy Capers Hit Belfast

Rural 'Culchie' comedy is to be on the streets of Belfast for an 'afternoon of mayhem' this coming Sunday afternoon.

The Magilligan Family (pictured) are to be unleashed on the al fresco stage at CottonCourt at 1pm and 3pm, alternating with the rope-swirling genius that is Leapin’ Louie. Louie can be seen in action at 2pm and 4pm on Sunday afternoon.

All shows are free, but in the best tradition of street entertainment, audience members are encouraged to show their appreciation in appropriate remunerative style.

The shows are part of Belfast City Council's 'Summer Sundays' initiative.

Supported by the Department for Social Development and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, 'Summer Sundays' sees art galleries, tours, craft fairs and the finest street performers from around the world luring people into the city centre each Sunday afternoon.

Also as part of the programme, art galleries around the city are opening on Sunday afternoons, bars and restaurants are offering special promotions, there are Belfast Music Tours and themed C S Lewis tours, and Victoria Square is hosting a special Sunday Craft Fair.

Coming soon too, there also are plenty of special events later in August to draw people into the city, including the first ever Belfast City Blues Festival over the Bank Holiday weekend (28-30 August) and the colourful annual Indian Mela celebration in Botanic Gardens on Sunday 30 August.
