Car Dealership Bust
Around 60 jobs are to be lost in the Midlands region following the news that a major car dealership is to go into liquidation.
Casey's Autogroup, which has branches in Roscommon, Athlone and Carrick-on-Shannon in Leitrim is the latest victim of the economic downturn.
The company went to the High Court to apply to put the company into voluntary liquidation.
The recession and the fall off in car sales is being blamed for the move.

More Job Fears At Car Components Company
Some 1,050 jobs at a car components company in Co Limerick and Co Cork are under threat. The Kostal company, which employs 650 people in Newcastlewest and some 400 workers at the company's Mallow location is to meet employees at both plants in the morning.

Jobs Lost As Birthdays In Liquidation
Clinton Cards has placed its Birthdays Ireland chain into liquidation. The greetings card retailer, which made up of 14 loss-making stores, said its Clinton Cards and Birthdays stores in the UK were unaffected by the move. At the beginning of this year, the company reported it's adjusted operating profits had increased by 3.8% to £16.

Jobs Lost At Concrete Firm
A Co Westmeath that produces concrete has announced plans to close with the loss of 18 jobs. John Gannon and Sons in Kilbeggan has gone into voluntary liquidation after 30 years in operation. Staff were informed of the closure yesterday and told they are entitled to claim redundancy.
