Tesco Backs Local

Tesco has just hosted a lunch for members of the Guild of Agricultural Journalists to celebrate the expansion of McCann's Harvest apple juice and Wilson's Country potatoes ranges now on sale in local stores. Tesco Commercial Manager Cliff Kells said: "We are committed to supporting local suppliers, and the expansion of the McCann's and Wilson's range is just another example of Tesco doing more to help the local economy." Coleraine Victim Assaulted

The man critically injured in the same attack which killed Coleraine man Kevin McDaid has been assaulted again. The incident happened in the same part of the Co Londonderry town as the previous fatal attack and saw Damien Fleming punched and kicked by two men who got out of a car in Pates Lane around 11.30pm on Wednesday. The PSNI are treating the incident as sectarian. See full story on: 'Double Insult' For Attacked Fleming

Belfast Factory Fire 'Malicious'

A large blaze at a derelict factory in north Belfast is being treated as malicious by the PSNI. Five fire engines, including a specialist appliance, were called to the blaze at Hillview Court, in the Oldpark Road area, after 8pm on Thursday evening. The Hillview Road was closed at its junction with the Oldpark Road, as emergency services dealt with the incident.

Police Rehabilitation Trust Praised

Just days after the launch of new arrangements for health care for the Armed Forces and veterans in Northern Ireland, the NI Health Minister Michael McGimpsey has visited the headquarters of the Police Rehabilitation and Retraining Trust at Holywood. The centre provides services to help both current and former RUC and PSNI officers and Armed Forces personnel who need physiotherapy or psychological therapies. "Last week I launched new arrangements for liaison between health and social bodies and the armed forces, their families and veterans. During this visit to the Police Rehabilitation Centre I have seen, at first hand, the high quality services available to police officers and armed forces personnel. This is a unique approach to caring for people who experience trauma or injury as a result of their service to the public," he said.

Enterprise Cut

Following the shock rail embankment collapse near Dublin, cross-border train services between Belfast and the Irish capital are to be temporarily reduced after part of the railway collapsed into the sea. Last month, a 20-metre section of the track in north Dublin began to give way while a train was passing over it. Translink has now introduced an interim timetable for the Enterprise, and has reduced the number of daily journeys between the cities from eight to six. Weekend services have also been cut and the changes come into effect on Sunday.

Robbers Threaten Family

A family with two children have been threatened with a knife during a robbery at their home in Armagh. Two masked men armed with a knife and a baseball bat entered the house in the Portadown Road area around 10pm on Wednesday and threatened and held the occupants, which included a man, a woman and two children, aged 11 and 12 years old. They escaped with a sum of cash. The man then raised the alarm and police have appealed for information.
