Woman Arrested Over Child's Death

Police investigating the death of a three-year-old girl in Stockport at the weekend have arrested a woman.

Officers were called to Redwood Close, Cheadle Heath by the ambulance service on Saturday morning.

A three-year-old girl was found collapsed in the house and was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman was also found at the scene with injuries to her wrist and was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment for superficial cuts.

Detectives later arrested a 43-year-old woman on suspicion of murder. A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said the woman is currently being interviewed by officers.

"Detectives are currently at the scene and inquiries are underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the death," added the spokesman.

Baby Death Mother Named
The British woman charged with causing the death of her newborn baby in a hotel room in Crete has been named. Leah Andrew, from London, has been charged with infantide after being arrested in Malia on Tuesday. Ms Andrew was rushed to hospital by local residents after giving birth alone in her room.

Two Held Over Cheshire Toddler Death
Two people have been arrested in connection with the death of a two-year-old boy in Runcorn, Cheshire. Paramedics were called to a house in the town around 10.30pm on Tuesday and when the police arrived, they subsequently arrested a 24-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman at the scene.

St Helens Murder Probe
Detectives in St Helens have launched a murder investigation following the death of a 55-year-old woman in Newton-le-Willows. Officers were called by the ambulance services at around 3.40am on Friday, to reports that a woman had been found at the bottom of the stairs at an address in Valentine Road.

Tent Fumes Kill Woman In Wales
A woman has died after being overcome by fumes in a tent with her family in a campsite in Wales. North Wales Police were called to a caravan site in Gym Goch, Caernarfon, around 9:30am on Monday to assist paramedics who were attending the scene.
