Killer Motorcycle Gunman Sought
Detectives appealing for witnesses and information after a so-called 'ride-by murder' in Tottenham have released an image of the car (shown here) in which the victim was shot.
Police were called just after 4pm last Friday (2nd October) to a report of shots being fired. They found that a man was targeted while driving west along The Roundway N17.
He had slowed at the traffic light junction with Great Cambridge Road and was shot in the car, though he managed to leave it to stagger a short distance down the road before returning to the vehicle and collapsing in the street.
He was taken by ambulance to a north London hospital, but he was pronounced dead at just after 5pm. The man was later identified as Oktay Erbasli, 23, from the Tottenham area.
Mr Erbasli was driving a silver grey Range Rover in traffic when a motorcycle - a black Honda Blackbird or Suzuki GSXR - pulled alongside his vehicle on the nearside and the gunman opened fire.
The gunman, the sole occupant of the bike, is described as wearing black or dark clothing and a black helmet.
Also inside the Range Rover were a female friend of the victim and a five-year-old boy. They were unharmed.
A second motorcyclist seen at the scene was riding a blue, grey and white bike, possibly a Suzuki. He is described as wearing a blue top.
Police are keen to trace this individual in a bid to eliminate him from the enquiry.
Both these bikes sped off west along The Roundway towards Lordship Lane N17.
Police are also keen to speak to the occupants of a silver Vauxhall Astra and a blue Toyota that were in the vicinity of the Range Rover at the time of the shooting.
Both were travelling ahead of the Range Rover and sped off at high speed along the A10 Great Cambridge Road towards the A406 after the shooting.
The Toyota may have damage to its rear as the Range Rover is believed to have hit this vehicle during the incident.
DCI Redwood said: "This was a busy rush hour junction. We are appealing to the public who may have been in the area at the time and have any knowledge of these vehicles and can assist with information on those involved in this shooting to contact the incident room immediately."
Anyone with information is asked to call the incident room on 020 7321 9251; if you wish to remain anonymous please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
