Swine Flu Body Returned

The family of a 29-year-old man, who has died after contracting swine flu on holiday in Spain, say he was "loved by all". It is understood that David Hayes, from Llysfaen, Colwyn Bay, suffered a heart attack in hospital after falling ill. He died at the Reus hospital in Catalonia on 7 October. His body was flown home to the UK last week, and his funeral will take place on Friday. His family said Mr Hayes, who had Down's Syndrome, had been a champion for people with learning disabilities.

Operation Storms Burgulars

The police have arrested 632 people in the first week of a campaign to tackle burglary across Greater Manchester. Operation Storm officers also raided 200 properties connected to suspected criminals, seized £25,000 in cash and recovered drugs worth an estimated £50,000. Property valued at more than £65,000 - including televisions, watches and an Audi A3 - were also found.

TV Icon Dies

The broadcaster, author and campaigner Sir Ludovic Kennedy has died aged 89. A former BBC Panorama journalist, Sir Ludovic spent decades investigating miscarriages of justice, including the case of the Birmingham Six. He contributed to the abolition of the death penalty and was also president of the Voluntary Euthanasia Society. He is understood to have died on Sunday at a nursing home in Salisbury, Wiltshire, after contracting pneumonia. He leaves four children.

Cabbies Tackled

The Metropolitan Police Service Cab Enforcement Unit - part of the Transport for London funded Safer Transport Command - made 40 arrests during a covert operation earlier this month. Cab Enforcement Unit officers patrolled touting hotspots in central London locations, such as the Haymarket and in prevalent areas in south London. They dealt with touting, illegal operating, illegal plying for hire, and unlicensed drivers and vehicles. This is not only to ensure compliance with regulations but, most importantly, to enhance the safety of the travelling public. Officers used specialist undercover tactics to catch touts red handed. The operation was not only successful in arresting illegal touts, but also acquired valuable intelligence.

Scottish BAFTAs

The nominations for the BAFTA Scotland Awards, which will take place at Glasgow's Science Centre on November 8, have been announced. The awards were announced on Monday by Helen Anderson, Director of BAFTA Scotland and Libby McArthur, Lisa Gardner and Morag Calder, stars of River City, were on hand to help launch this year's awards, as well as celebrate River City's first BAFTA nomination in the category of TV drama. In film, In The Loop received nominations for star Peter Capaldi - Acting in Film and Armando Ianucci - Director. Ianucci also received a nomination in the Best Writing category alongside his coleagues Jesse Armstrong and Simon Blackwell. Richard Jobson's New Town Killers will take on Kurdi and Crying With Laughter for the Feature Film award.

Designer 'Hanged Himself In Wardrobe'
Renowned British fashion designer Alexander 'Lee' McQueen died after hanging himself in a wardrobe, an inquest into his death was told today. McQueen was found dead at his London home last Thursday. A note was found at the scene.

Royalties Case Dismissed For Former Busted Members
Two former members of boyband Busted have lost their High Court battle for song royalties. Ki McPhail and Owen Doyle claimed that they were forced to sign away their rights to songs like Year 3000 and What I Go To School For and Sleeping With The Light On which they said they had written with James Bourne and Matt Willis.

BAFTAs Loom As TV Awards 'Shock' Fry
Actor and TV presenter, Stephen Fry was "shocked" when he was presented with a special recognition award at the National Television Awards.
