'Assassin Kit' Three Facing Prison

Three men caught driving round Manchester with an 'assassin's kit' are facing jail.

Luke Lawrence, 26, of Churchbeck Chase, Bolton; Kane Mousah, 23, of Clinton Avenue, Fallowfield; and Joel Johnson, 34, of no fixed abode, were all found guilty of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life after a trial at Manchester Crown Court.

Lance Francis, 26, of Vancroft Street, Hulme, was found not guilty of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life

On Tuesday 10 March 2009, officers from the Xcalibre Organised Crime Unit had been watching a Vauxhall Astra owned by Lawrence as part of an ongoing effort to reduce gun crime.

The car was being driven round south Manchester and it stopped on Moorton Avenue, Burnage.

As it tried to exit the cul-de-sac, police cars blocked the road and four men were arrested.

Officers looked in the car and saw a black handgun, magazine and silencer.

Attached to the box it was in was also a laser targeting system.

No sentence date has yet been given for the three men convicted.
