Royal Mail Deal On The Way?
A peace deal is on the table which could end a series of damaging strikes at Royal Mail, with an unconfirmed report this afternoon that tomorrow's threatened stike action has in fact been called off.
That's according to Sky sources which today said that representatives from the Communication Workers' Union (CWU) have been in talks with Royal Mail for weeks but it is thought some progress has been made which could lead to tomorrow's walk-out being cancelled.
Negotiators have been locked in discussions at the TUC headquarters but the 17 members of the CWU's executive committee will need to decide if the deal is acceptable or not.
Last week it was reported that the CWU and Royal Mail were close to an agreement but the talks unravelled and another set of strike dates was announced.
The CWU is accusing Royal Mail of not being serious about reaching a settlement in a row over job cutbacks and savings.

Postal Workers Set For More Strikes
The Communication Workers Union (CWU) has announced that further strikes will take place as the row over pay and business changes at Royal Mail continues. Two 48-hour strikes are scheduled to take place on October 5 and 6 and October 8 and 9.

Met Police Seize Scam Mail Aimed At UK Victims
In the first operation of its kind, officers from the Metropolitan Police Service's Economic and Specialist Crime Unit (Operation Sterling) took possession of a bulk delivery of scam mail intended for vulnerable victims across the UK and searched and closed five virtual offices used by the scammers.

Postal services across the UK are set for major disruption this week as the first nationwide postal strike in two years began this morning at 4am. It takes place after talks between Royal Mail and the Communication Workers Union (CWU) broke down.

Postal strikes set to begin
Royal Mail staff are set to begin two weeks of staggered industrial action from 7pm on Wednesday evening in protest over pay and job losses. The Communication Workers Union (CWU) said that each division within the firm had been given a different day to strike on in order to cause the maximum disruption to Royal Mail.
