Appeal Over Missing Star Athlete
Police have launched an appeal after a promising young athlete, who is said to be a potential competitor for the 2012 Olympics, disappeared.
Ross Clarke, 21, has not been seen since he left his home in Rainham, Essex, last week.
Police have confirmed that he left home at 1:30pm on Friday and is believed to have travelled to Southampton.
However, no-one has heard from him since, and his family and friends are said to be growing anxious about his safety.
Mr Clarke is a member of Basildon Amateur Athletic Club and is rated among the top six 1,500m runners in Britain.
He is part of a small, elite group of runners being coached by Eamonn Martin, the last British man to win the London Marathon.
Mr Clarke is described as being around 6ft 1in, white, of slim build, with blue-green and fair hair.

The UK has marked the fifth anniversary of 9/11 with a low-key ceremony in London. Families of the 67 Britons who perished in the September 11 attacks have attended a private service in the memorial garden near the US Embassy in Grosvenor Square. A minute's silence was held at 13.
