Trafford Gun Threat Charge
A man has been charged after a police officer in Manchester was threatened at gunpoint.
John Greenwood, 62, of Lytham Road, Flixton, Trafford is charged with making threats to kill, driving a motor vehicle with excess alcohol, driving while disqualified, affray and using an imitation firearm to resist arrest.
He appeared before Trafford Magistrates' Court yesterday.
At 1pm on Sunday 13 December, a police officer was threatened at gunpoint on Lytham Road in Flixton.
A response officer attended and together she and her colleague managed to overpower the gunman.
The gun was recovered and later found to be a blank-firing pistol.

The officer responded to a call for assistance after a fellow police man, who had been called to a disturbance at a pub on Lytham Road in Flixton, was threatened with a gun yesterday afternoon.

A prison officer is to be charged in connection with passing information to the Sun newspaper for a payment of £3,350. Facing a charge of misconduct in public office, Richard Trunkfield, who worked at HMP Woodhill, in Milton Keynes, allegedly passed information on a “high-profile” to the newspaper.
