Anglian Solider Killed In Helmand
A British solider has been killed in the Helmand province of Afghanistan.
The Ministry of (MoD) said the man was caught in an explosion while on foot patrol in the Nad-e Ali area yesterday.
He was from the 1st Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment.
The soldier's name has not yet been released, but the MoD said his family have been informed.
Lt Col David Wakefield, spokesman for Task Force Helmand, paid tribute to the latest fatality.
"His dauntless courage and his sacrifice will not be forgotten."
The death is the first British loss to be confirmed this year.
So far 246 UK military personnel have died while stationed in Afghanistan.
The US-led invasion of the region began in 2001.
Four American troops were killed in a separate explosion on Sunday, US military officials confirmed last night.

Two more British soldiers have been killed in separate incidents in southern Afghanistan. In the first incident, a soldier from 4th Battalion The Rifles, was killed in a contact explosion, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced this morning. The soldier was out on a foot patrol near Nad Ali.
