Pub 'Peacemaker' Killed

Police in west London have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man assaulted whilst celebrating at a New Year's Eve party.

Emergency services were called at approximately 3.20am on 1 January to reports of an incident outside The St James public house on High Road, Cowley in Uxbridge.

Police arrived to find a seriously injured and unconscious man, collapsed on the pavement.

Frazer Bradshaw, aged 34, was taken to Charing Cross hospital in a critical condition with head injuries. He remained on a life-support machine for three days.

Mr Bradshaw died in the early hours of yesterday.

Next-of-kin have been informed and a post mortem examination is scheduled to take place later today at Uxbridge Mortuary.

Acting Detective Inspector Craig Jones, of the Met's Homicide and Serious Crime Command at Hendon, said: "At this early stage we believe that Mr Bradshaw was acting as a peacemaker whilst a fight broke out between two groups at around 3.10am inside the pub.

"This fight was to continue outside the pub where he was fatally assaulted."

ADI Jones called on anyone who witnessed the sequence of events to contact police.
