Long Serving MP To Retire
East Surrey Tory MP Peter Ainsworth has announced he is to retire after representing his constituency for 18 years.
Mr Ainsworth was first elected to the House of Commons in 1992, but said he will not challenge the parliamentary seat for a fifth time.
The Conservative Party did not give a specified reason for Mr Ainswoth's decision.
In a statement, the MP said: "I have done my best to help the most vulnerable people in our community and to protect our local environment."
It continued: "Being in opposition can be frustrating, but I believe that in my roles as Chairman of the Environmental Audit Committee and as Shadow Environment Secretary, I played a part in shifting political attitudes towards green issues.
"David Cameron has my wholehearted support and I will continue to work for a Conservative victory at the next general election."
Britain is widely expected to go to the polls in May.

A woman has suffered serious injuries after being hit by a minibus carrying Conservative party aides during David Cameron's four-day tour of India. The minibus was travelling along a road in Mumbai when it hit the local woman just after noon on Tuesday, local time.
