Forest Gate Murder Appeal
Detective in London have renewed their appeal for information following a fatal shooting at a block of flats in Forest Gate last week.
Police were called shortly after 1am on Wednesday 6 January to reports of shots fired in the vicinity of Whyteville House, Upton Lane E7.
A 21-year-old man was found on the first floor landing, suffering a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
He was taken to Royal London Hospital where he died at a short time later.
The man has been named as Mahmood Jama, 21, of Boundary Road, E13. Mahmood was a British citizen who was born in Somalia.
A post mortem examination found the cause of death was a shotgun wound to the chest.
An incident room has opened under Detective Chief Inspector Mark Dunne (HSCC).
Detectives said they believe an altercation took place between two groups of youths on a former garage forecourt in Studley Road at its junction with Upton Lane and continued into Whyteville House where the victim was shot.
DCI Dunne said: "We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who left Whyteville House immediately after the incident and walked down Studley Road towards Green Street."
Five men aged 21, 23, 20, 23 and 20 were arrested in the vicinity and taken to various east London police stations. All were later released with no further action.

UK annual house price inflation in June 2007 was 12.1%, up from 10.8% in May 2007. Annual house price inflation in London was 17.5% in June, up from 14.3% in May. Annual house price inflation dropped again in October, according to the latest figures from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. House price inflation was 2.2% in October, a fall from September’s figure of 3.3%. The ODPM reported that the average house price in the UK was £186,103 in October, compared with £186,755 in September.

UK house prices fall, report shows
UK house prices fell by 0.5% between January and February, figures from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) have shown.
