Dealer Jailed After Covert Sting
A man has been jailed after being caught selling drugs to undercover police officers.
Benjamin McGreevy, 26, of Roseneath Avenue, Leveshulme, pleaded guilty to supplying class A drugs at Manchester Crown Square Crown Court.
Yesterday he was sentenced to four years in prison.
McGreevy was caught after he agreed to sell drugs to undercover officers during an operation targeting drug dealers on the Metropolitan division.
He supplied an undercover officer with five wraps of heroin and cocaine over the course of three separate drug deals in April 2009.
Sergeant Tony Lea, of GMP's drug enforcement unit, said: "I am really pleased with today's result, and hope it sends a clear message not only to other offenders but to the local community too that we will continue to work hard to reduce drug dealing and the massively detrimental affect it has on people.
"I want drug dealers to understand that we use a vast array of tactics to bring them to justice and, next time they hand over drugs for cash they could be dealing with an undercover officer."
