Probe Follows Suspicious Death Of Girl, 3
Police have launched a murder inquiry after a three-year-old girl was found dead at a house in Birmingham.
A women in her 20s is being held by detectives investigating the death. She is still being questioned.
The child's remains were discovered by officers on Saturday evening at an address on Milverton Road, Erdington.
A post-mortem examination has not determined the cause of death. Police said a hazardous substance was found at the scene.
More toxicology and forensic tests are to be carried out on the girl's body, a spokesman for West Midlands Police confirmed today.
Tests are still underway on the unknown substance found at the scene. Police said specially equipped fire officers had to be drafted in to deal with the hazardous material.
Chief Inspector Mark Payne said: "The death of the little girl in suspicious circumstances has led to an immediate and comprehensive investigation.
"Detectives, forensic experts and local officers are working together to establish how the girl died and who is responsible."

Couple found dead in museum
Police are investigating a suspected murder and suicide at the World Museum in Liverpool. Merseyside Police were called to the World Museum on Sunday, following reports that a man had fallen to his death from a balcony. However, police then discovered a teenage girl suffering from stab wounds. The pair were taken to hospital where both later died.

Police Investigating If Woman Was Trying To Save Dog When She Was Hit By Train
British Transport Police investigating the death of a woman have said that she may have been trying to save a dog when she was hit by a train. The 22-year-old woman was struck by a train close to Ainsdale station near Southport, Merseyside at about 15:00 on Wednesday. Transport police said a dog was also found dead at the scene.

Kate McCann, the mother of missing British girl Madeleine McCann, is being re-interviewed by Portuguese police. Her husband, Gerry McCann, will be re-interviewed tomorrow. Mrs McCann arrived at Portimao police station in the Algarve at 2pm local time on Thursday. She was accompanied by her lawyer Carlos Pinto de Abreu.
