Teens Face Prison Over Gun
Two teenagers who looked after a loaded handgun for a local criminal are facing jail.
Appearing before Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court, Chloe Goodman, 18, of Stephen Street, Urmston pleaded guilty to possessing a prohibited weapon and possessing ammunition without a certificate.
A 17-year-old girl, who cannot be named because of her age, pleaded guilty to possessing a prohibited weapon and possessing ammunition without a certificate.
The pair looked after the double-action revolver for Daniel Brown, 21, of Barton Road, Stretford, who pleaded guilty to possessing a section five firearm with ammunition.
All three defendants are due to be sentenced on 25 March 2010.
Acting on intelligence, officers from Greater Manchester Police's Xcalibre Unit executed a warrant at a house on Shawe Road in Flixton in the early hours of Sunday 10 May 2009.
Four people were inside, including Goodman, and the 17-year-old girl, found hiding in the loft.
During a search of the house, a police dog directed the officers to the back garden fence, where a black leather handbag was found resting on top of a hedgerow.
The revolver, fully loaded with five rounds of ammunition, was found inside the bag, along with documents belonging to the girl.
When interviewed by officers, the girl said that she and Goodman were paid £300 by a man to look after the gun, and this money was shared between them.
Further inquiries established that the gun belonged to Daniel Brown.
