Strathclyde Bookmakers Robbery
Police are investigating three separate robberies carried out at William Hill bookmakers in the Strathclyde area yesterday.
The first robbery was carried out at the Main Street, Baillieston branch at around 5.50pm.
This was followed by a further robbery at the shop on Cumbernauld Road, Muirhead at around 6.45pm.
The final robbery took place at the bookmakers on Larchfield Road, Moodiesburn at around 8.55pm.
During each of the robberies, staff were threatened with what is believed to be a firearm and in total a three figure sum of cash was taken.
A small, dark coloured car was used in all of the incidents, police believe.
Once of the suspects has been described as white, around 5’6" in height with a slim build.
He was wearing a black bomber style jacket, dark jeans, a hooded top, black gloves and had a pale striped scarf over his face. He spoke with a local accent.
The second man was white, around 5’10" in height with a medium build.
This male did not enter the bookmakers and was seen during one incident wearing a high visibility vest and in another, a black hooded top. His face was covered with a dark coloured scarf.
Police said staff had been left shaken by the incident.
Detective Inspector Bob Frew, of Cumbernauld CID, said today: "We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed these robberies, at any of the locations, to come forward.
"It may be that they have seen the men acting suspiciously around the area of the bookmakers, either before or after the robberies took place."
