Keys Handed Over At MediaCityUK
BBC Children's presenters Sonali Shah from Newsround, Helen Skelton from Blue Peter and Alex Winter from CBeebies visited the building at MediaCityUK this week which will be the new home of BBC Children's from 2011.
The visit was held to mark the handing over by developers Peel Media to the BBC of the final two BBC buildings at MediaCityUK – on time and on budget. The Children's presenters joined Peter Salmon, Director BBC North, and Joe Godwin, Director BBC Children's, for a look round their new home.
Peter Salmon commented: "This marks another important milestone on the journey to our exciting new home in the north and I am very pleased that the buildings have been handed over, on time and on budget, for the internal fit-out ready for operational use from around the middle of next year."
Sinead Greenaway, Chief Executive of Peel Media, said: "The handover to the BBC is the latest of many significant deadlines for MediaCityUK as we build towards completion of phase one in 2011. We look forward to delivering our shared ambitions with the BBC of creative excellence, innovation and tangible benefits for the North of England and the wider UK media sectors."
