'Same Day' Coverage Boosts ITN News
A major TV news resource is now available from ITN with the launch of ITN Source News.
Its news agency business is selling on-the-day footage gathered by ITN to broadcasters and producers globally - a step forward from the previous archive service.
Previously known as ITN International, the business now forms part of footage sales arm ITN Source and offers multiple products to broadcasters around the world. The re-engineering of ITN Source from an archive to a footage syndication business creates a global licensing powerhouse proactively marketing ITN's award-winning journalism to the international broadcast and education markets, both key drivers in ITN Source's strategy.
It will offer clients high quality coverage in the form of live feeds, highlight clips and reporter packages from talented journalists on the UK's biggest free-to-air channels, ITV and Channel 4.
ITN Source News will also continue to provide extensive broadcast facilities throughout the UK for international clients.
As part of the launch, a new microsite also went live outlining the ITN Source News service and features interactive videos from some leading journalists including Julie Etchingham, Lindsey Hilsum and Geraint Vincent.
Asha Oberoi, Managing Director, ITN Source said: "The launch of ITN Source News is a key pillar in our growth strategy and enables us to build on our international growth which now accounts for over half of our business.
"ITN Source News gives global broadcasters access to our award-winning independent journalism, gathered daily in the UK and through our global bureaux network, in effect making ITN Source News an extension of their own newsrooms," he said.
With over one million hours of content, ITN Source is already the world's largest and most diverse collection of moving imagery spanning multiple content genres including news, drama, celebrity, comedy, music, wildlife, natural history and film.
As well as ITN content, ITN Source sells footage on behalf of a number of partners including Reuters, ITV, UTV, ANI, Channel 9 News (Australia), Fox News and Fox Movietone. The collection spans there centuries dating from 1896 to present day.
