Bail Boost To Ease Prisons
Ministers plan to increase the number of offenders and remand prisoners released into bail accommodation in England and Wales. A Ministry of Justice memo said the scheme - less expensive than prison - should be used "as fully as possible". The running of the Bail Accommodation and Support Service was taken over this month by private firm Stonham.

The Prime Minister has praised the work of the armed forces ahead of today’s Armed Forces Day, an annual opportunity for the nation to show its support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces. Across the country people are getting involved with events both locally and nationally in honour of our serving troops, veterans and their families. David Cameron addressed members of the Royal Navy aboard HMS Ark Royal in Halifax, Nova Scotia on Thursday to pay tribute to the work of the Armed Forces.
Crash Horror On Roads
There has been further tragedy on the roads of Northern Ireland with news this morning that a man in his 30s has died following a traffic accident in Co Fermanagh. He was driving a car when it left the Ballyconnell Road, Derrylin. Police said they believed no other vehicles were involved, but have appealed for anyone who witnessed the crash, or came across the scene before the ambulance arrived, to contact them. The deceased has not yet been named and the road remains closed. A child has also been killed in a weekend road accident in Co Down. The toddler died after being struck by a vehicle in Clough. Meanwhile, three people have been critically injured in an accident in Co Antrim this morning with the ambulance service called to the scene on the Leathemstown Road near Dundrod at about 6.20am on Monday

Wimbledon ticket sellers, who exploit legal loopholes to sell tickets for British star Andy Murray for up to £20,000 each, are being targeted by police. The tournament is not classed as a designated sporting event and touts can avoid prosecution by using certain phrases when offering tickets. Some touts now employ solicitors to advise them on how to avoid arrest.

Third Round Of Military Cuts To Be Announced
In an effort to plug a £38bn hole in the defence budget, the Ministry of Defence is to announce a third round of Army redundancies. It is expected that another 5,000 job loses will be made. The fresh cuts follow cuts already announced by the government to reduce Army numbers from 102,000 to 82,000 by 2017.

William's First Overseas Royal Visit
Prince William will carry out his first official royal tour of New Zealand next year, it has been announced. The 27-year-old prince will represent the Queen during the visit in January. Clarence House said William would go to Auckland and Wellington, where he will open the new supreme court building on behalf of the Monarch.

Two more US troops killed in Iraq ambushes
Two US soldiers have been killed in separate incidents near Baghdad yesterday. On Wednesday evening, one soldier was shot and killed after his patrol was ambushed about 20 miles south the capital.

Armed Forces Could Lose Vote
Thousands of members of the Armed Forces could lose their chance to vote this year if not enough complete voter registration forms. Each year Service personnel at home, overseas or on deployed operations cannot have their say in elections because they do not register to vote by the deadline.
