Teenager Drowns At Blackpool Beach
A 14-year-old boy has drowned off Blackpool beach.
Liverpool Coastguard were called after two teenagers were spotted in trouble in the sea by Blackpool's Central Pier around 3:40pm yesterday.
The boys had been in the water with a large rubber ring - one of them managed to get to shore, but the other was last seen being covered by a wave and was then lost from sight.
A search, involving the Lytham St Annes Coastguard rescue team, all three Blackpool RNLI inshore lifeboats, a rescue helicopter and police units and helicopter, was launched.
The missing teenager was found in the water around 6:30pm yesterday evening.
The boy, believed to be from Northampton and on holiday with his family in Blackpool, was pronounced dead at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

The search for a four-year-old boy who fell into water near a jetty in Burnham-on-Sea is continuing. Emergency services were called just after 18:00 on Sunday. An air and sea search involving coastguard rescue teams, lifeboats and an RAF helicopter was scaled back at dusk but continued overnight.

Coastguard rescue four from toy dinghies near Ilfracombe
Four people have been rescued from inflatable toy dinghies by the Coastguard. The four were stranded at the foot of cliffs at Hele Bay near Ilfracombe on Thursday. Swansea Coastguard received an emergency call at around 8.00pm from a member of the public reporting that two small dinghies appeared to be in danger near cliffs in the Hele Bay area.

Man Arrested After Woman Drowns
A young woman has died and a man - said to be her boyfriend - has been treated in hospital after the couple were rescued from the sea off the Blackpool coast. The woman is the 12th person to drown in the North Shore area in the last two years and the 18th drowning tragedy in the last 22 years at Blackpool.

Father And Son Saved In Scarborough
A nine-year-old boy and his father were saved from drowning by RNLI lifeguards at South Bay, Scarborough on Saturday 2 July after getting swept out to sea by a rip current. The pair, from Glasgow, were spotted by one of the charity's lifeguards at 2.30pm, around half a kilometre outside the safe swim area marked by red and yellow flags.

Boy airlifted to hospital by Coastguard
An eight-month-old baby boy has been airlifted to hospital after suffering severe burns while on a ferry off north-west Scotland. The child was aboard the Stornoway to Ullapool ferry yesterday when he was burned following an accident with a hot cup of tea. The ferry was 20 miles west off the Scottish coast at the time.
