Boy Re-Arrested Over Canal Body

Police searching for a missing teenage mother have found a body in a Rotherham canal. A 17-year-old boy has been re-arrested on suspicion of murder. Laura Wilson, 17, was last seen in the Holmes area on Saturday. A body was recovered on Tuesday, from the Sheffield and South Yorkshire Navigation Canal. A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Due to the discovery of a female body in the canal near Steel Street, Rotherham, police last night re-arrested a 17-year-old man on suspicion of murder as a matter of course. The 17-year-old was originally arrested on Tuesday morning on suspicion of assault and remains in police custody assisting officers with their inquiries." A post-mortem examination is due to take place on Wednesday and the body will then be formally identified.

MP Questioned Over Indecent Assault

Following allegations of improper behaviour towards a female constituent, a Liberal Democrat MP has been arrested on suspicion of indecent assault. Reported on his website, MP Mike Hancock, said he went voluntarily to a police station on Tuesday and "co-operated fully" with inquiries. The Portsmouth South MP was released on police bail without charge until 10 January. His suspension has been called for by Portsmouth City Council's Conservative Group. A Hampshire police spokesman said: "A man has been arrested on suspicion of indecent assault following a complaint from a woman in Portsmouth. The 64-year-old man from the Fareham area was arrested at 10am on Tuesday. He was questioned by police following an allegation made on Friday 24 September and has been bailed until 10 January 2011."

Corporation Tax Roadshow Heads For Birmingham

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) has announced that its Corporation Tax Roadshow will be rolling into Birmingham next month. From April 2011, Company Tax returns, for accounting periods ending after 31 March 2010, must be filed online in a data format called iXBRL. The event is an opportunity for tax professionals and businesses to find out more about the software available to support this major change. The ‘Corporation Tax Online’ event takes place on Wednesday 3 November at Birmingham City FC, St Andrew’s Stadium, from 9am to 4.30pm.
