Teenage Girl Critical After Croydon Collision

Traffic officers are appealing for witnesses and information after a teenage girl was seriously injured in a fail to stop collision in Croydon on Friday night. Police were called around 7.10pm on Friday, 25 February to Morland Road to reports of a collision and the car having driven off. Officers and the ambulance service attended and a 14-year-old girl was taken to hospital suffering a serious head injury. She remains in hospital where her condition is described as critical. It is believed that the car involved in the collision and that failed to stop at the scene was a green coloured Renault Clio. There was one occupant, a white man, believed to be aged in his 20s with short hair. Officers are urging this driver to contact police. This car was later found a short time later, around a mile from the scene, burnt out in Davies Close, Croydon. Enquiries are being carried out by officers from the collision investigation unit at Catford Traffic Garage.

Charges Follow Haringey Disorder

Police have charged a man and a woman with assault on a police officer following an incident at Haringey Civic Centre on the evening of 24 February. Nicolas Christian, 34 of Chester Road, and Jane Laporte, 39 of Terront Road in north London will both appear at Highgate Magistrates' Court on 15 March. A group of around 70 demonstrators gathered outside Haringey Civic Centre in High Road at around 5.30pm on Thursday, 24 February. At around 7.20pm a group of approximately 20 people forced entry to the premises. Officers made two arrests, a man and a woman, and subsequently charged as above on the evening of 25 February.

Pedestrian Seriously Injured In Collision With Bus

Police in Southwark are appealing to the public for information after a man sustained serious head injuries following a collision with an out-of-service bus on Sunday morning. The victim, a 39-year-old Somali national, had just got off a number 12 bus in Walworth Road, near Tesco Express, at 5.20am when he was hit by another bus as he crossed the road. The man suffered serious head injuries, described as potentially life-changing, and was taken to a south London hospital by London Ambulance Service, where he remains in a stable condition. A man, aged 42, was subsequently arrested in connection with the incident and bailed pending further enquiries. Investigators are keen to speak to passengers on the number 12 bus who may have seen the victim, or anybody who witnessed the collision and the events immediately before and afterwards.
