Murder Investigation Launched In North Lanarkshire
Police in Cumbernauld have launched a murder inquiry the body of a 19-year-old man was found in a flat in Kilsyth in North Lanarkshire at the weekend.
Leslie Berry was found in his flat in Park Lane around 00:45 on August 7, suffering from serious injuries, following reports that a man had been injured in a disturbance.
Emergency services attended, but Mr Berry died at the scene.
Following a post-mortem, police are now treating his death as murder. Door-to-door enquiries are being carried out in the area and CCTV images are being gathered as part of the investigation.
Appealing for information, Detective Chief Inspector Kenny Dewar said: "A young man has lost his life in what appears to be a senseless attack. We believe that earlier in the evening, around midnight, a disturbance had taken place either in or near to Leslie's flat. Extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding his death and to trace those responsible.
"I am encouraged by the response we have had from the local community so far and I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw or heard anything in the area of Park Lane and Kilsyth Town Centre between midnight and 0130 hours.
"I would ask anyone with information or knowledge about this crime to contact police as a matter of urgency."

Man Arrested Over Kent Doctor's Murder
A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a doctor in Kent. Consultant paediatrician Dr Victoria Anyetei, 54, was found in her car in the driveway of her home in Dartford on August 14. She had been stabbed to death. Kent Police said that the man was arrested on suspicion of murder at an address in Dartford.

Man Arrested For 2002 Murder Of Becky Godden
Police investigating the disappearance of Becky Godden on December 2002, have arrested a 51-year-old man on suspicion of murder. Ms Godden was aged 20 when she disappeared in Swindon on 27 December. Her remains were found in 2011 on farmland in Gloucestershire.

Man Arrested Over Sexual Assault In Somerset
Police investigating a sexual assault in Somerset, during which a mother and child were tied up and held at knifepoint, have arrested a 59-year-old man. Police arrested the man on suspicion of aggravated burglary and sexual assault, in connection with the incident in Sydenham, Bridgewater on 21 January.
