Scotland Gets Extended Leisure Facility
The new gym extension at Xcite Bathgate Leisure Centre in West Lothian is set to open this weekend and a host of free classes are on offer to customers to help celebrate the big day.
£600,000 has been spent on refurbishing and extending the gym area. The new extension has a fresh layout and design, new technology equipment and air conditioning.
West Lothian Leisure is marking the event with a special "Open Weekend" on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 August between 9am and 4pm.
There's a host of free activities on offer over the two days, including free swimming, free fitness classes, free fitness assessments, free golf competitions and free advice sessions from Physioflex.
New customers can also join for free this weekend and everyone can receive a tour of the new facilities. Plus, staff from Kerry's Hair salon will be on hand to offer spray tans for only £10.
Youngsters will also be able to take part in a number of free activities including swimming, a beat the goalie competition, free unlimited use of the bouncy castle, a golf competition, aqua run and face painting, plus many more.
Robin Strang, General Manager of West Lothian Leisure, said: "We are absolutely delighted with the extension to the new gym and we're sure that customers will agree that there have been major improvements.
"The Open Weekend offers both customers and anyone interested in fitness and leisure, an opportunity to look around the facilities in Bathgate and take part in games and activities. There's something for everyone and the best part is that it is absolutely free."

Thirty five new jobs are to be created at a new niche and healthy snack food factory in Gwynedd. Start-up firm Brighter Foods is to establish its base in Tywyn and said they hope to capitalise on the demand for gluten free, sugar reduced, low fat, diet control and sports nutrition products.

Over 90 New Free Schools To Be Announced
Some 93 new free schools are to be opened, more than doubling the total to 174, the Prime Minister is due to announce today. In what will be a joint appearance with Education Secretary Michael Gove, David Cameron is expected to also announce the opening of 13 studio schools and 12 university technical colleges across the country.
