Caravans In Landslip

There has been a landslip at Porthkerry Leisure Park, in Wales. It happened late on Monday evening with investigations set to continue into today as to how the incident left 15 caravans teetering on the edge of a cliff. The owners of the Porthkerry Leisure Park near Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, will also resume their efforts to pull the caravans away from the cliff edge. The rockfall happened at about 10pm on Monday. No-one was injured.

BFI Secure 37 BIFA Nominations

The British Independent Film Awards have announced the nominees for 2011, and films financed through the BFI Film Fund feature strongly with a total of 37 nominations. Of the nominated Film Fund-backed films, Steve McQueen's Shame and Paddy Considine's Tyrannosaur lead with seven nominations each. Lynne Ramsay's We Need to Talk About Kevin, which was last week named Best Film at the BFI London Film Festival, and Ben Wheatley's Kill List have both received six nominations, with Richard Ayoade's Submarine picking up five. John Michael McDonagh's The Guard has received three nominations, Joe Cornish's Attack The Block has two and James Marsh's Project Nim is nominated in the Best Documentary category.

Power Stations For Yorkshire

Ministers gave the green light for two new power stations in Yorkshire that will create over 1,000 jobs and generate enough energy to power almost two million homes. Charles Hendry, Minister of State for Energy, said: "The energy industry can be a real driver of growth across the country. Some £200 billion of investment is need in the energy industry over the coming decade, representing remarkable opportunities for companies in the UK.
