M5 Re-Opens As Crash Probe Continues
A deadly section of motorway has today re-opened for traffic after the stretch of the M5 motorway was finally cleared of debris after one of the worst pile-ups in recent memory.
Now as traffic flows again, the police are to focus their attention on a rugby club fireworks event held close to the scene.
The road, near Taunton in Somerset, had been closed since Friday evening's smash, in which seven people died and 51 were injured.
Today, investigators said the theory that smoke from the display had drifted across the road and caused the 34-vehicle pile-up was now their "main line of inquiry".
This morning, West Somerset Coroner Michael Rose, is expected to release details of when inquests will be opened and adjourned into the seven deaths that occurred at about 8.30pm on Friday night.
A horrific fireball erupted as vehicle after vehicle piled into the crash scene causing carnage and horror for the emergency services who attended the scene.
