Iranian Diplomats To Leave UK
Diplomats at the Iranian Embassy in London must leave by this afternoon as result of an attack on the British embassy in Tehran earlier in the week.
Foreign Secretary William Hague ordered the expulsion of the diplomats and it is understood that they must clear out by 2pm today.
An attack on the British embassy in Iran followed the decision by Britain to impose further restrictions on Iran’s nuclear programme. Hundreds of protesters stormed the building.
Some of Britain’s diplomats will also be pulled out of Iran with some staff also leaving for their own safety.
The damage to the embassy building in Iran has been described as carnage and it is understood that the building is severely damaged.
After the attack Britain was outraged and warned of "serious consequences".
Mr Hague has now said: "If any country makes it impossible for us to operate on their soil, they cannot expect to have a functioning embassy here."
