Wheelchair Stolen From Elderly Man
An appeal has been launched after a wheelchair was stolen from an elderly man in Newcastle.
Police said they are appealing for witnesses to the incident which happened between 10am and 11am on Monday, January 23, when the wheelchair was unattended in the garden of a house in Chesham Green, Kenton.
The wheelchair belongs to the resident, a man aged in his 70s. Police are appealing for witnesses to get in touch.
Neighbourhood Inspector Julie Rana said: "It's completely heartless to go into someone's garden and steal a wheelchair and we're making enquiries in the area to try to find the person or people responsible.
"I'd urge any witnesses to the theft or anyone who has information about the whereabouts of the wheelchair, including scrap metal dealers who may see someone trying to weigh it in, to get in touch with us as soon as possible."
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
