Thief Dresses As Woman To Steal Cash

Police are hunting a man who 'cross-dressed' as an elderly woman to steal £11,000.

It is understood that a man disguised himself using a wig, make-up and a camel coat to pose as a 76-year-old and withdraw money from her account.

The thief withdrew the money from Royal Bank of Scotland branches in Charing Cross in Glasgow city centre and in Cleland, North Lanarkshire.

The incident occurred after the elderly woman mistakenly handed over her pin number during a phone scam and then her bankcard to a bogus courier.

Police were alerted after concerns were raised by bank staff that they felt someone was impersonating and elderly woman.

An extensive inquiry is now under way.
