Bosses Urged To Back Youth Employment Scheme

A new plan has been rolled out with an aim of reducing the amount of youth unemployment.

Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg is urging employers and firms to join a government scheme that offers a cash incentive to take on and train young people.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that the £1bn scheme would provide a wage subsidy of £2,275 for 18 to 24-year-olds. He said he is currently writing to perspective employers to tell them about the so- called Youth Contract.

The Scheme is due to get underway in April and it is hoped that it will add a significant boost and help curb youth unemployment.
