Tanker Drivers Unions Expected To Reject Deal
It is expected that representatives of tanker drivers will reject a deal offered by company bosses aimed at averting strikes in the fuel dispute, the BBC have reported.
Proposals were drawn up during six days of negotiations last week between the Unite union and company bosses, however union sources say the representatives are likely to reject the plans in a vote later.
BBC correspondent John Moylan said the news likely meant the offer on the table was not regarded as sufficient but it did not necessarily mean the dispute would escalate.
Unite has until Friday to accept a deal or announce a strike, after a deadline for calling industrial action was extended.
It would then have to give seven days' notice of any industrial action.
Moylan said the two sides might now reconvene at the conciliation service Acas.
