Falklands To Hold Sovereignty Referendum
The Falkland Islands will hold a referendum on its "political status" in a bid to end the dispute with Argentina over the archipelago's sovereignty.
The islands' government made the announcement ahead of the anniversary on marking 30 years since the end of Argentina's 74-day occupation in 1982.
It said it wanted to send a firm message to Argentina that islanders want to remain British.
The UK prime minister said Britain would support the result of the vote.
The referendum will be organised by the Falkland Islands government and will take place in the first half of next year.

Band leader John Hemmingham said Monday's match against France was the first time the group had not played at an England game in 16 years.
The Sheffield-based band said it was working with the Football Association (FA) to resolve the issue.

Cyclist Has Bike Stolen After 10,000-Mile Ride
A British cyclist rode his treasured bike for 10,000 miles across Europe and Asia only to have it stolen after locking it to a rack outside a restaurant in his hometown.
Sam Swain, 22, said he had travelled through countries including Iran and China that were supposed to be hazardous and had met more than one or two "unsavoury" characters.
But he had not felt that he or his Dawes Super Galaxy touring bicycle were ever at risk. Now he feels angry and disillusioned after the bike was taken as he worked at a Bristol restaurant saving up for his next trip.
