Man Attacked With Sword In His Home
A 65-year-old man has been stabbed with a sword while trying to scare off three intruders from his east London home.
The man brandished the sword at his window in an effort to scare off three youths in his garden in Barking Road, East Ham.
But is it thought two of them got inside the house, where the man was then stabbed with the weapon during the confrontation.
The victim suffered multiple stab wounds in the incident at 01:30 BST on Saturday.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "The victim awoke to noises outside his bedroom window and saw three youths in his front garden. He shouted at the youths to scare them off.
"He then took a sword that he had on display in his living room and returned to a window and waved it at the youths.
"Moments later he returned to look out of his bedroom window again and saw no-one outside. He walked out of his bedroom to find out that two of the youths were standing on his landing."
Police said the sword has not been found and have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
