16-Year-Old On Trial For Steel Comb Murder
A teenage girl has gone on trial at the Old Bailey for killing a 16-year-old, who died after she was stabbed in the head with a steel Afro comb.
The defendant, who is also 16 and cannot be named for legal reasons, denies murdering Julie Sheriff, who died on 21 September last year.
Julie suffered a brain injury after being attacked in Falcon Road, Battersea, south London, on 7 May last year and remained in a coma.
She had been visiting friends in the area and lived with her family in Hackney, east London.
The trial continues.

Stephen Lawrence Accused Plead Not Guilty
Two men from south London charged with the murder of Stephen Lawrence have pleaded not guilty. Gary Dobson, 36, and David Norris, 34, appeared at the Old Bailey via a videolink. They are currently on remand at Belmarsh prison until their trial on 14 November.

Youth convicted of schoolboy footballer's murder
A 17-year-old youth has been convicted of the murder of schoolboy footballer Kiyan Prince at the Old Bailey on Monday. Hannad Hasan, of Colindale, north London, had denied murdering the 15-year-old, but admitted manslaughter, claiming Kiyan's death was an accident. However, the prosecution did not accept the plea of manslaughter.

A 16-year-old boy has appeared in court charged with the murder of 15-year-old Kiyan Price. Kiyan, a young footballer who played for Queens Park Rangers' youth team, died after being stabbed near the London Academy school in Edgeware, north London, last Thursday. A post-mortem revealed that he died from a single stab wound to the chest.
