Right-To-Die Campaigner Tony Nicklinson Dead
Tony Nicklinson, the man with locked-in syndrome who recently lost a High Court ruling in his right-to-die case, has died.
The 58-year-old is understood to have passed away peacefully at his home around 10am this morning.
Messages on his personal Twitter account read: "You may already know, my Dad died peacefully this morning of natural causes. he was 58.
"Before he died, he asked us to tweet: 'Goodbye world the time has come, I had some fun'.
"Thank you for your support over the years. We would appreciate some privacy at this difficult time. Love, Jane, Lauren and Beth."
Mr Nicklinson was left paralysed from the neck down after suffering a stoke while on a business trip to Athens in 2005.
He had been campaigning for his right-to-die, taking a case to the High Court seeking permission for doctors to end his life.
He lost his High Court case just last week.
A message sent from the Twitter account of Mr Nicklinson's daughter Beth said: "RIP @TonyNicklinson. Couldn't have asked for a better dad, so strong. You are now at peace, we will be fine. I love you xxx"

A legal challenge brought by the late Tony Nicklinson, over the right to die with help from a doctor, has been taken up by 58-year-old Paul Lamb. Mr Lamb has been paralysed since he was severely injured in a car accident in 1990.

The high court is due to rule on whether or not a man with “locked-in syndrome” should be allowed to proceed with ending his life. Tony Nicklinson, 57, suffered a stroke in 2005 and has been severely disabled since. He suffers from locked-in syndrome, which means that while his body is completely paralysed his mind is still active.
