Head Teacher Pays Tribute To Muir Of Ord Pupil
The head teacher of Tarradale Primary School, Muir of Ord, has paid tribute to five-year-old Primary 2 pupil, Gracie Mackay, who was one of three children who died following a boating accident near Gairloch on Sunday.
Gracie's sister, Callie (8), who is a Primary 5 pupil at the school, survived the accident, swimming to the shore from the capsized canoe. Two friends, Ewen (5) and Jamie Beaton (2), from near Beauly died in the accident and their father, Ewen Beaton, is still missing.
Head Teacher Tracy Sinclair wrote to parents: "It is with great sadness that I write to inform you of the death of a P2 pupil from our school. Gracie Mackay was a happy, thoughtful little girl who was popular and well liked by everybody. This has come as a shock to the whole school community and we are all deeply saddened. During the coming days, it is important that we support the pupils and each other as much as we can. Support is being provided to the school by the educational psychologists.
"On this sad occasion our thoughts turn at the first instance to Gracie’s family, and I know that you will join us in sending not only our condolences but our support during this very difficult time."
