Met Officers Seize 30 Kilos Of Cocaine
The Metropolitan Police has seized 30 kilos of cocaine following an operation in Hertfordshire.
Acting on intelligence, officers from the Met's Central Task Force stopped a 26-year-old man soon after he left a lock-up in St James's Road, Goffs Oak, around 1pm yesterday.
He was found to be in possession of a kilo of suspected cocaine and arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.
Keys for the lock-up were taken from the man and a search conducted of the premises.
Officers found three safes located behind a false wall and these were subsequently opened with the assistance of a locksmith.
Inside the safes were found another 29 kilos of suspected cocaine, along with scales and further paraphernalia.
The arrested man has been taken to a north London police station where he remains in custody.
Detective Inspector Colin Stephenson, of the Central Task Force, said: "This is another example of good detective work by my team, which has prevented a huge amount of cocaine destined for London from reaching the streets.
"My message to those involved in the drugs trade is that we will pursue you relentlessly and make you face the consequences of your actions."
