TUC Unanimous In Vote For Coordinated Strike Action
The TUC has said it will carry out co-ordinated strike action should talks over public sector pay break down.
Delegates unanimously backed the proposal by Unison at the union movement's annual congress in Brighton.
Dave Prentis, general secretary of the public sector union, said the coalition had "declared war on our people" by freezing public sector pay.
The coalition has frozen public sector pay for three years, saying this is vital to help drive down the budget deficit.
Mr Prentis said: "It's a coalition which has declared war on our people - our people face a three-year pay freeze, with living standards slashed while the rich and powerful remain untouched.
"It's our job to lead the fightback, to protect our heritage, to defend that fairer society that those who went before us fought for."
Any strike action would take place after a planned day of demonstrations on 20 October.
He added that the marches and demonstrations in London, Glasgow and Belfast in October had to be a "launch pad for our campaign against austerity".
